Learning About the Practice Habits of Golfers

There’s a study going on at the moment to figure out HOW golfers are currently practicing. I encourage everyone to check it out and participate if possible.

Here’s the info from lead researcher Dr Mike Drysdale:

All across the world golfers are practicing and competing. Courses provide many types of practice areas. We all accept the notion that we practice to improve. We want to be better than we are now.

Research into performance enhancement and practice has helped us understand effective practice strategies. A lot has been published and shared regarding these strategies. For example, on Golf Science Lab we can read and listen to:

The logical next step in the process is to understand how golfers practice. Once we come to understand that, we can develop ways of helping them, if need be, transition to using these more effective practice strategies.

One way of gaining insights into golfer’s practice behaviors is to ask them. I have developed a short survey (about 8 minutes to complete) that contains questions about how golfers practice. My goal is to collect information from golfers of all levels and abilities. The more variability the better. This will provide a better look at the practice habits golfers.

Please join me in this quest by sharing your practice habits in the survey: https://indstate.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_4PeQkERURCBltJz

Thank you!
