Improve Your Ball Striking (Week 3)

Welcome back to the third episode of GSL Podcast about Becoming a Better Ball Striker.

This week we have the pleasure of sitting down with Trillium Rose.  Trillium is the Director of Instruction at Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, Maryland.  Her list awards and accolades as an instructor is lengthy to say the least.  To name just a couple, she’s been recognized by Golf Digest as one of “The 50 Best Teachers in America,” and a “Top 50 Master Kids Teacher” by U.S. Kids Golf.  Clearly, her resume speaks for itself.  We’re incredibly lucky to share a few valuable minutes with her in this episode.

Training Exercises for More Speed

For over three years the Ryp Golf team have been researching overspeed and overload training. Last year they launched their newest product, the Rypstick; when we heard about the results they were getting by combining their training programs and Rypstick we had to go check it out.

Starting with an assessment, they’ll know how optimized my speed is, how much speed I could gain, and where to put the emphasis: sequence or strength. After we did the fitness analysis and swing assessment (both included with a Rypstick purchase) and got to test out the Rypstick with overspeed training work.

Watch the video below to see full process.

According to Luke Benoit, Ryp Golf Founder, with two months of training the majority of players pick up 10 – 25 yards; they’ve also helped players see 10 – 15mph speed gains by drastically improving their sequence, resulting in 30 to 50 extra yards.

We had an awesome time with Founder, Luke Benoit, and VP, Scott McDonald. They have an incredible team and amazing program that’s customized for results.

3 Keys to Improve your Ball Striking

I don’t know about you, but it sure is nice to have golf back on television.  We’re three weeks in now and it finally feels like the start of golf season.

One thing I continually marvel at, and I know many of you do as well, is just how darn solid the best players in the world strike their full shots.  Whether it’s a 320-yard drive, or a crisp wedge that stops on a dime, it’s a rare occasion Tour Pros miss the center of the face.

It’s in that spirit that we’ve embarked on a new series; all about ball striking.

If you’re a regular listener or reader of our content, you know the name Tony Ruggiero.  He’s a coach to a stable of Tour Pros and knows what it takes to become a better ball striker.  Pull up a seat and have a listen.

Improve Your Ball Striking [Week 2]

I don’t know about you but, watching the final round of the Waste Management Phoenix Open this past weekend was riveting.  So many storylines and a star-studded leaderboard sure made for some great entertainment.

One thing that stuck out to me was how much better the guys that performed well down the stretch struck the ball, compared to those who didn’t.  Brooks Koepka was nearly flawless from tee to green on the back nine and consequently, hoisted the trophy.

In this week’s installment of our series about helping you become a better ball striker, we have the opportunity to sit down with Mike Malaska.  For those of you that don’t know, Mike played on the PGA Tour and has since become one of the game’s most respected instructors.  He’
